“Yo, Christine,” Stella shouted.
“Umm, I’d say yes,” Harley said out the side of her mouth to me at the same time she was waving to my ma.
“Hey, why don’t you three join us?” Stella asked.
I banged my head on the edge of the table.
“No,” Kat groaned.
“I’m so disappointed, Bridget, Christine’s family seems excited to have her here but you want me gone?” See, Irish guilt.
“Christine probably won’t act like a twenty-one year old let out for the first time. You forget, Ma, I’ve seen how you act when you’re let loose.”
“Ahh, stop being and eedjit ye.” My ma’s brogue could be heavy at times, and when she used phrases like eedjit ye, it seemed that a brogue was necessary to get the meaning across. “By the way”—Ma pointed to spilled shot glass—“ruined blowjob, that’s probably why you aren’t married.”
“I didn’t spill it, Kat did.”
“Great, throw me under the bus.” Kat glared at me.
Kat and I were busy trying to get rid of our moms but everyone else were acting like Martha-fucking-Stewart. They were being Miss Hospitality by inviting the moms to join us.
“Are there three more of these things somewhere?” Colleen looked around. Three full blow jobs shots that had somehow not been consumed in the mass confusion, one being mine, were handed over. “This is why I’ve been married for thirty-six years.”
“Thirty-eight,” Christine Christakos announced.
“Thirty-two,” Monica Lappis announced, and then all three ladies bent over grabbed the shot glasses sans hands and picked them up and swallowed in one gulp.
Kat and I covered our eyes, the rest of our group stood up and applauded.
“Teach us, Obi Wan,” Harley commented.
The lights dimmed and someone pulled three chairs over so that the moms could join us. We all had a small portion of our life’s savings in ones out and ready to stuff into G-strings.
“Fuck, how much money did you bring?” Piper asked. “I brought like thirty dollars and my debit card.”
“Ummm, hate to break it to you sweetheart but their butt cracks aren’t an ATM although it might be fun trying to slide your card through there.”
“Ooo gross.” I punched Piper
“It’s okay, I brought extra.” Kat pulled out several stacks of ones.
“Holy hell, Kat, how much did you bring?”
“Two hundred.”
“Are you trying to get laid?”
“Well, I have a lap dance so maybe I just might.”
“Uh no, not from these guys, as hot as they are, they’ve probably had more things up their asses than the muppets,” Sadie said with a straight face.
I pounded on my chest as I coughed and laughed at the same time while replaying Sadie’s words in my head. “I can’t believe you just said that, but I’d have to agree.”
For the next two hours, oiled, tanned, and well-toned flesh shook, flexed, and gyrated around us, all for the bargain price of one dollar per shimmy. Our group of now twenty-seven fueled each other on, and the strippers liked our corner.
Every now and then the hairs on the back of my neck would prickle and trying not to be too obvious, I’d scan the room. The scary thing is, this would be the perfect place for someone to kidnap women. They’re here, they get all hot and bothered, they’re ordering drinks like crazy, a few well-placed flirts, and boom, a guy might get a young woman to follow him just about anywhere. The thought of this really bothered me. I made a mental note to ask Eli, he worked for the FBI and was a good friend of my brothers. I’d be interested in learning the statistics of cases just like that.
“Are you paying attention?” Piper shouted but the music was so loud it came across more as a whisper.
“Yeah, sorry.”
I turned back to the stage.
As the end of the evening approached, I glanced around the room once more. My eyes locked on a pair of familiar green ones, ones that were identical to mine. They were standing at the back, near the door, next to several other men.
“Umm ladies, we’ve been busted.” I pretended to be scratching my face as I covered my mouth. “Look over by the door.” Standing there arms folded, a smirk curling up on one side was Aiden, and next to him was Sergeant Carter Lang, Mr. Christakos, Danny, he worked at Sixes, it was a restaurant that was sort of a law enforcement hang out.
“There’s Riley.” Adeline pointed to the guy standing next to Aiden. “That’s my fiancée.”
“My brother.” Brynn pointed to one of the guys.
“Well, ladies, I think this means that our night is officially over,” I said as I held up my glass for one last toast. “To new friends and a night to remember.”
Our glasses all clinked.
Yeah, I’d never forget this night, my girl posse had definitely grown…a lot. And as for me, as soon as I found a way to tell my parents that I wanted to go into the police academy and Sadie, Kat, and Harley earned their wings as a motors deputy, then along with Piper we would make an awesome gang. I wasn’t sure who to feel more sorry for, the people who had to put up with our antics or the criminals that would have to deal with our attitudes.

Chapter 1 - Sadie
Damn, I made this shit look good.
I stared at myself in the mirror for what had to be the tenth time this morning, making sure that my pins were perfect and my shirt was pressed. The only things that weren’t sexy were the boots, but hey, I didn’t mind them, since they were part of the standard uniform of all motorcycle deputies. Who would have ever guessed that I, Sadie Kathryn Lazar, would become a motorcycle deputy? I still got butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it. I mean . . . why wouldn’t I? I was getting ready to roll out on two wheels of county-owned property, and it would be up to me to save the people of Orange County, Florida from danger. Okay, more often than not I was saving them from their own stupidity, and I wasn’t doing it alone, but whatever. There were other deputies and city police officers and state troopers, but I was part of that team. I was twenty-eight fucking years old, and even though I wasn’t a kid any longer, this was a lot of responsibility. A lot of pressure.
I grew up watching Cops with my daddy. I was all about bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do thanks to that show, and I never wavered from my career choice.
My ten-minute warning alarm signaled it was time for me to get my ass in gear. After sliding my gun into its holster, I grabbed my helmet and marched out of my small duplex. I opened the door to my tiny garage, which was truly meant for storage, and rolled out my motorcycle before reporting in to dispatch.
“Thirteen twenty-two, ten-eight.”
“Orange County copies. 05:57 hours.” Dispatch confirmed that I was logged in and on duty.
I fired the engine on my bike and then rolled back on the throttle. To many, the roar of the engine might as well have been a foreign language, but to me, it was my native tongue.
As the early morning sun warmed my cheeks and the wind whipped against me, I hummed and maneuvered through the rush-hour traffic. It wasn’t even ten minutes after beginning my shift that my call signal rang out across the radio…
